Nouns:
A
noun is a word used to refer to people, animals, objects, substances, states,
events and feelings.Nouns can be a subject or an object of a verb, can be
modified by an adjective and can take an article or determiner.
We
all know small babeis pronouce called "mom,
dad"
Those
are Nouns.every things which we look, these
are nouns.then, someone will
think " we can't look like Elments. it is also a noun?.Yes you are
correct.
There
are many ways to look Elments.so Elments are called nouns.
Types
of Nouns:
•
Proper
nouns are the
names of specific things, people, or places, such as Jhon, France. They usually
begin with a capital letter.
•
Common
nouns are general
names such as person, mansion, and book. They can be either concrete or
abstract.
•
Concrete
nouns refer to
things which you can sense such as clock and telephone.
•
Abstract
nouns refer to
ideas or qualities such as liberty and truth.
•
Countable
nouns refer to
things which can be counted (can be singular or plural)
•
Uncountable
nouns refer to
some groups of countable nouns, substances, feelings and types of activity (can
only be singular)
You
can find more nouns from your English Dictionary.
Again, we
can distribute Countable nouns as two knids. These are Prural And Singular Nouns.
Let's learn about Singular and Plural nouns:
Every
nouns is in Singular form .So we have to turn Singular Nouns into Prural
form. When turning most of singular nouns
into prural noun, we can add "s" end of that noun
.
Examples:-Pen---Pens
Book---Books
Folwer------Flowers
Nouns
also denote abstract and intangible concepts.
Examples:birth
happiness
evolution
technology, etc.
You
can use your English dictionary and find like these nouns.
But
we can't add "s" for every Singular nouns to turning into Plural
nouns.so now let'swe study other ways.
When
the singular noun ends in: -sh, -ch, -s, -ss, -x, -o we form their plural form
by adding "-es".
Examples:sandwich
- sandwiches
brush - brushes
bus - buses
box - boxes
If
singular noun ends in "y", we change the "y" for
"i" and then add "-es" to form the plural form.
But
do not change the "y" for "ies" to form the plural when the
singular noun ends in "y" preceded by a vowel.
Examples:-nappy
- nappies
day - days
toy - toy
Uncountable
nouns:
Coffee,Tea,Sugar,Oil
are Uncountable nouns.but we can use those nouns as countables nouns.can only
be singular
Examples:- Two of coffee
Two of spoon fuls of sugar
A glass of milk
Using " A,
An"..............................................................................
Using
"The":-
................................................................................
Examples:
The highest mountain
The World
The Moon
The pen you gave me
we can use
"The" origin of word "Same"
Examples:-
The same book
The same colour
But there are many
Irregular Nouns which do not form the plural in this way:
Exaamples:-Woman
- Women
Child - Children
Sheep - Sheep
